Pet and Wildlife Photography are by many considered to be different genres, however the principals are essentially the same and we consider Pet photography to fall squarely within the Wildlife genre.

We would however agree that the shooting circumstances can be very different.

Pet photography is normally undertaken under more controlled conditions, either indoors or outdoors, whilst, most certainly Wildlife Photography is the art of photographing a non domesticated animal in its uncontrolled natural environment.

Obviously each of these types of photography require their own set of skills and environments. 

Normally a Wildlife photographer may specialise in certain types of animals and have specific knowledge of their environmental habitats
