On a weekend trip out to Gates Garden Centre, well worth a visit if you get the chance, we decided to take a scenic route through the Leicestershire and Rutland Countryside. We were in no particular rush and I had something in mind that I wanted to get a closer look at.
The place that I wanted to visit was Launde Abbey, despite the fact that the actual Abbey has long passed into the history books, the majestic Elizabethan house that now stands on the site is a sight to behold, standing in a beautiful valley landscape.
The weather was not really the best, but it was still an opportunity to get a few passing photographs, and the old tree standing to the south west of the house was surrounded in water, due to the recent amount of unusual May rainfall. The old tree stood in a flooded piece of ground, which appeared almost like a lake and presented a spectacular opportunity for a shot which was later converted to Black and White. and I hope you will agree looks quite spectacular.
