Light at the end of the tunnel...

Well after a long absence, caused in part by the Covid pandemic and the unfortunate lockdown restrictions that we have all had to endure; It was good to get outside and finally do what we love once again, giving us hope that there is actually some light at the end of the tunnel after all.

After what has been a fairly tumultuous 12 months of being really busy working from home; Anthony and myself decided to meet up at Bradgate Park in Leicester to take in some fresh air and get busy with our cameras. It was unfortunate that the sun did not care to join us on our first day out with the cameras in nearly 12 months, but we were not going to let such a thing deter us from our mission.

We met up in the Cropston Reservoir car park at the bottom end of Bradgate Park and headed uphill along the edge of the park towards Old John, it’s a steady little climb as we headed past the underground reservoirs, after which we headed left up towards the Sliding Stones which offers a great vantage point with almost 360 degree views around the Park.

Sliding Stones...
I wonder why they're called Sliding Stones?

It was certainly a little breezy and the wind was biting cold. Despite our hopes for some better light, it did not materialise and we were stuck with a rather bleak outlook for our photography, but we decided to persevere and get a few shots, including some experimentation with vertical panorama shots on our iPhones, which yielded some interesting results.

It was a real shame about the light not being on our side, because, I am sure you would agree that the shots that we got could have been greatly improved with some better light. Despite spending an hour or so on Sliding Stones Hill, there was just no let up in sight for the overcast grey skies

It was then that we decided to move back down the hill and head back to our cars. whilst on the way, we would.see if we could get a few photographs of the Bradgate Deer, who are almost always available for a few photographs.

We decided that due to the poor light perhaps some street photography would be a more suitable use of our time, so we headed into Leicester, but, that’s a totally different story that will have to wait for another day....

So, for now, take care, stay safe and we hope to catch up with you again soon.
